We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you create or manage an account, complete verification, make a payment, trade or contact us.
  • Automatically from the apps, websites and trading platform through logs, cookies, local storage, software development kits and similar technologies.
  • From service providers, including trading platform, identity verification, payment, hosting, security and analytics providers.

Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires us to identify a legal basis, we process personal information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, pursue our legitimate interests, protect vital interests, establish or defend legal claims, or because you have given consent.

Our legitimate interests may include providing and improving our services, maintaining security, preventing fraud, managing business operations and communicating with customers. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

How we share information

We may share personal information with:

  • Trading platform and technology providers that help operate accounts, pricing, charts, orders and trading services.
  • Identity verification, KYC, anti-money laundering, sanctions screening and fraud prevention providers.

  • Regulators, courts, law enforcement, tax authorities and other public bodies when required or permitted by law.
  • A purchaser, investor or successor in connection with a proposed or completed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers may process information only for the services they provide to us and must protect it under contractual and legal obligations. We do not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of that term. The apps do not display third-party advertising, and we do not use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

International transfers

MarketMates and its service providers may process personal information in Mauritius and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws from your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, transfer agreements or other lawful mechanisms.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the services, maintain your account, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal, regulatory, tax, audit and record-keeping obligations. Retention periods vary according to the type of information, the product used and applicable law.

Because MarketMates provides regulated financial services, we may be legally required to retain identity verification records, account records, communications, payment information and trading or transaction history after an account is closed or deleted. When information is no longer required, we delete it, anonymise it or securely restrict its use, subject to technical backup cycles and legal requirements.

Account and data deletion

You can initiate deletion of your MarketMates account from within the Android or iPhone app by opening your account settings, selecting the Delete Account option and following the confirmation steps. We may ask you to reauthenticate or complete an identity check to protect your account from unauthorised deletion.

Deleting your account will close the account and delete or anonymise personal information that we are not legally required to keep. Information that must be retained for financial regulation, anti-money laundering, fraud prevention, tax, dispute resolution or other legal purposes will be securely restricted and retained only for the required period.

If deletion cannot be completed immediately, we will provide information about the process and confirm when it has been completed. Account deletion does not automatically cancel obligations, open positions, pending withdrawals or subscriptions managed by Apple, Google or another payment provider. These items should be closed or cancelled before deletion where applicable.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive certain information in a portable format, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, including obligations that apply to regulated financial services. To exercise a privacy right, contact [email protected] or use the controls available in the app.

Security

We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. These measures include access controls, security monitoring and protections for information transmitted over networks. No service or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for protecting your login details, using a strong password and notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised activity.

Cookies, analytics and mobile technologies

Our websites and mobile apps may use cookies, local storage, analytics tools, app identifiers and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect the service, understand usage, measure performance and diagnose crashes. Device settings may allow you to manage notifications and certain identifiers. Browser settings may allow you to control cookies, although disabling necessary technologies may affect functionality.

Children

MarketMates services are intended only for people aged 18 or older and for users who meet any higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly offer accounts to children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child contrary to applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Third-party websites and services

The apps may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. We encourage you to review those notices before providing personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our services, technology, legal obligations or business practices. We will publish the updated policy and revise the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice through the app, website or email.
