I recently found out that the original Market Wizard, the late Dr Van K. Tharp’s website was hacked, and most of his precious learning materials and articles were deleted.
If you don’t know Van, you will have heard of his concepts. Whenever a trader talks about how many ‘R’s they made on a trade – that’s him. It’s not just R-multiples; his teachings have shaped thousands of traders.
My favorite ideas of his include that you trade your beliefs and people get what they want out of the markets.
I had the privilege of meeting Van in Sydney in 2013 and was lucky enough to build a small but meaningful relationship, which led to my work on Market Types and exit strategies being published in his newsletter. Sadly, that’s lost now.
Thankfully, much of his work remains, and we can continue to hold the candle for him. Here is one small effort – a PDF the team and I have put together.
In these turbulent times, his work is more relevant than ever.
